Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud believes he would be able to strike up a good partnership with Liverpool star Luis Suarez and would welcome him to the club.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been on the lookout for a new striker, with Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain another player linked with a summer transfer to Emirates Stadium.
This has left many to question whether Giroud’s future at the club could be in doubt, but the France international was happy with the links to a Suarez bid and believes the pair would make a good partnership.
“Luis Suarez is someone with whom I could have a good feeling with on the pitch, so I am for his arrival. I'm not afraid of competition,” he told L’Equipe.
Wenger also supported Giroud when speaking after Arsenal thrashed an Indonesia Dream Team 7-0 in their first pre-season warm-up match on Sunday.
Giroud scored twice after coming off the bench in that victory and Wenger reaffirmed his desire to keep him at Arsenal.
“I like Olivier very much. He scored 17 goals in his first year in England when he needed to adapt and I'm sure he will respond,” he said.
