Alvaro Negredo is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester City as both clubs finally come to an agreement.

The deal looked like it was about to collapse earlier this week, but an agreement has now been reached.

"We are on the verge of closing the deal with Manchester City, only a few loose ends remain," confirmed José María del Nido.

"If nothing strange happens, we will say goodbye to him this afternoon."

Negredo scored 31 times in 42 appearances for Sevilla last season.

Manchester City will pay an initial £21.5million for the 27-year-old, which could rise to £24.5million with add-ons.

Negredo will replace Carlos Tevez who signed for Juventus earlier this summer.

Negredo will join up with former teammate Jesus Navas and the rest of the City squad on their pre-season tour of South Africa as soon as the deal is complete.
