Newcastle United look set to complete a deal for Darren Bent within the coming week, according to the Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old scored three goals last season for Villa and was on the bench for the majority of their season with, last summer's signing, Christian Benteke taking the plaudits, as he netted 19 times for Paul Lambert's side.
Bent meanwhile, is looking ever so close to switching from Aston Villa to the Toon - the 29-year-old could be a possible replacement for Papiss Cisse who seems unwilling to remain on the Newcastle side, due to the Geordies' recent sponsor Wonga.
Cisse has refused to wear a Newcastle shirt because of his muslim beliefs and does not want to wear anything associated with the advertisement of money due to it.
However, Alan Pardew could also look to target QPR forward Loic Remy, as the striker looks set to leave the London side this summer after they dropped down to the Championship.
