Jose Mourinho arrived at Chelsea this summer, from Real Madrid, for his second spell as Blues boss.
He inherits a very young and talented squad, and although Roman Abramovich has been upset with the lack of progress made by the academy players in recent time, Chelsea have splashed out on their fair share of youngsters.
They have youngsters like Nathan Chalobah, Nathan Ake, Jamal Blackman and Lucas Piazon who look to have massive potential but they are unlikely to be finished products any time soon.
The likes of Oscar, Hazard and Azpilicueta look established, despite their relatively young age while Courtois is on loan, thus this article will identify the young players who Chelsea fans may look forward to next season.
Marco van Ginkel
The young defensive-midfielder has already been capped at national level by Louis van Gaal and was also involved the recent U21 Championship with Netherlands.
He looks relatively strong for his age and slim physique, but the most impressive part of his game is his game reading and intelligence.
Essien looks past his best and Oriol Romeu has gone on loan which may signify that the young Dutchman might get a few opportunities this season.
The young German international was signed for £18 million this summer from Bayer Leverkusen. The winger has been capped 24 times for Germany despite his age, which may help refute the possibility of him ending up like fellow compatriot Marko Marin.
He can play either on the wings or as a striker, which allows Mourinho some versatility in choosing the player. With his devastating speed and impeccable shooting ability he may become a real asset in SW6.
The Belgian Striker spent last season on loan at West Brom, where he scored an impressive 17 goals in all competitions. Considering that was he first full season playing in England's top division after being largely ignored during his inaugural season, he is bound to improve.
With his large physique and aerial prowess, many have dubbed him the new Drogba. With Mourinho having a known preference for big strikers having brought the aforementioned player to Chelsea, Lukaku may be just the man that Mourinho needs.
With Chelsea’s desire to sign a new striker despite having the young Belgian, Torres and Ba may be an indication that he may not have too many opportunities. However, should Mourinho decide to entrust his faith in this powerful player he may not end up being to disappointed.
Kevin De Bruyne
Another Belgian International who also spent last season on loan is keen to impress Mourinho this season. After an impressive campaign with German outfit Werder Bremen where he scored 10 goals and 10 assists whilst plying his trade on the wings.
With his versatility on playing across a number of offensive positions, he may prove very useful for this Chelsea side. With his speed, dribbling and remarkable off the ball movement, De Bruyne may prove to be a pure inspiration for Chelsea in the forthcoming season.
