Manchester Untied have turned their attentions to Luka Modric, after having failed in their bid to lure Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas to Old Trafford, according to Sports Direct News.
David Moyes has made it abundantly clear that his main priority this summer is to add a top-class midfielder to United's ranks, and after having failed to land Thiago Alcantara, Kevin Stootman and now Fabregas, the Scot is believed to be eyeing up the former Tottenham man.
The Red Devils reportedly tabled a £25m offer for Fabregas earlier this week, but it is understood the player is keen to stay on at the Camp Nou as long as he is still wanted by manager Tito Vilanova.
Although it is unlikely that Moyes' pursuit of the former Arsenal captain will stop there, Modric is considered to be an adequate alternative if he fails to convince the Catalan giants to part ways with their Spanish star.
Modric enjoyed a successful time in the the Premier League with Tottenham and was outlined as a target by Sir Alex Ferguson in the past, but the club refused to sell the playmaker to one of their rivals and instead offloaded him to Madrid.
However, the 27-year-old has failed to flourish at the Bernabau since his arrival last summer and Moyes can feel confident that a promise of first-team football would secure the Croatian's signature.
