Valentino Rossi says that Leguna Seca is a special track for him, ahead of the US Grand Prix this weekend.
Rossi had an unforgettable race on the circuit in 2008, when he was locked in an intense battle with Casey Stoner and managed to come out on top, but he says that since then he hasn’t had the best of times on the track.
In an interview with motogp.com, he said: "Laguna is a very special track.
"It is very important to me because it is the track where I had one of the best races in my career, in 2008.
“Apart from that time I always seem to suffer there so I hope to go and do a better job this time. We have made good progress and are now fighting closer to the front, but we need to make another step to fight for more victories."
Rossi managed to achieve his first win since 2010 at Aspen and will hope to continue his good form – that also saw him finish on the podium last week – in the US Grant Prix.
And, with both Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo both out injured, it makes for a very open field at the Grand Prix, which should be an intriguing event.
