Manchester City, who have no shortage of money, have made some interesting transfers this summer.
Here is a team that has great talent, and can push Manchester United for the Premier League title in 2013/14.
With new boss Manuel Pellegrini in charge for the coming season, City look likely to play a 4-2-2-2 formation - We look at how they might line-up on the opening day.
Goalkeeper - Joe Hart
The England International didn't have the best season in 2012/13, but is still considered one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
He played every game in the last campaign and secured 14 clean sheets - more than any other 'keeper. On average, he only conceded 0.87 goals a match, which far betters fellow goalkeeper David De Gea's 0.91.
Right-back - Pablo Zabaleta
Since joining from Espanyol in 2008, Zabaleta has been a solid defender for the Citizens. Out-competing Micah Richards and Maicon for the position, he has been one of the most consistent players for the former champions.
After a fantastic season, he was voted the 2012/13 Etihad Manchester City Player of the Year.
Centre-back - Vincent Kompany
The Belgium Captain has long time been the leader of the Citizens, anchoring their defence since coming over from Hamburger SV in 2008.
During the 2011/12 campaign, he won Premier League Player of the Season, and was included in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. Considered to be one of the bright spots last season, he will look to lead City to the Premier League title once again this campaign.
Centre-back - Matija Nastasic
After joining City from Italian side Fiorentina, the Serbian has proved to be a big player at the Etihad. In his debut season, he got himself onto the PFA Young Player of the Year nominee shortlist.
In Nastasic, City have a player that will be key this season, and for a long time to come.
Left-back - Gael Clichy
Since his big transfer from Arsenal's famous 'Invincibles' team, Clichy has not disappointed.
Clichy has recently signed a new four-year deal keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2017. Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "I'm really happy to have a new deal with City and I'm already looking forward to next season," said Clichy. "Things didn't go the way we wanted them to this year but we'll come back stronger next season and learn from this experience."
Centre-midfield - Yaya Toure
The most obvious player on this list, the Ivorian footballer has been considered to be the best player at the Etihad Stadium. With his great vision, passing ability, and physical power, he will strike fear into any opposition.
Winning the Premier League Team of the Year Award in 2011/12, he will continue to be a bright spot for the former Premier League Champions.
Centre-midfield - Fernandinho
On June 6, 2013, Fernandinho became Manchester City's first signing of the summer with a fee of £30 million. He has signed a four-year deal and has waived around £4 million owed to him by Shakthar Donetsk in order to make the transfer from the Ukranian club.
With a powerful shot and great passing range, he will look to make his mark along side Yaya Toure in the Citizens midfield.
Right-wing - Jesus Navas
Just four days after the signing of Fernandinho, City secured the services of the Spanish winger for £14.9 million.
Quick dribbling and an ability to run at opposing defenders will give them an outside threat that they just didn't have with James Milner.
Left-wing - David Silva
Silva plays mainly as an attacking midfielder, but has also played as a winger. Silva is known for his passing, vision, and dribbling. He has been mooted by many as the best playmaker in the league.
He finished the 2011/12 campaign as top of the assists table with 17. He was also one of four City players who were selected in the PFA's Premier League Team of the Year.
Striker - Sergio Aguero
The Argentine was a major part of the 2011/12 campaign with his 94th minute winner against Queen's Park Rangers that gave Manchester City their first league title in 44 years.
With 35 goals in 64 league appearances since coming over from Atletico Madrid in 2011, he has been one of City's top strikers.
Striker - Alvaro Negredo
Sevilla are understood to have accepted a new bid of £20 million for the 27-year-old. With Sevilla lining up Kevin Gameiro from PSG as a replacement for Negredo, the deal looks imminent.
With his 70 goals in 139 league appearances for Sevilla, he will add the necessary goal scoring ability needed to win the Premier League.
