Swansea are hopeful of sealing a deal for Espanyol winger Wakaso by this weekend, according to the Daily Star.
The Ghanaian - whose full name is Wakaso Mubarek - has his heart set on a move to the Premier League so the Swans are confident a deal can be concluded.
The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the brightest talents around Europe, making a string of impressive performances for Catalunya last season.
And it appears the Welsh side are favourites to land the left-midfielder, with Michael Laudrup keen to bolster his squad with additions from La Liga.
Swansea has initially seen an offer of £3.9 million rejected by the cash-strapped side, but it is believed an agreement has been reached, with the Capital One Cup winners set to pay the Spanish side £5 million for his services.
Laudrup has wasted no time in improving his squad this summer, already bringing Wilfried Bony, Jose Canas, Jordi Amat, Alejandro Pozuelo and Jonjo Shelvey to the Liberty Stadium.
