League Two outfit Burton Albion have completed the signing of 37-year old midfielder Rory Delap on a one-year deal.
The midfielder, renowned for his exceptional ability at throw-ins, has already been involved with the pre-season set up at Burton Albion, and has already played in two pre-season friendlies for the Brewers.
Delap was released from Stoke City in June after they decided not to renew his contract, this allowed Delap to be available on a free transfer.
The 37-year-old will bring an abundance of top-flight experience to the Pirelli Stadium. The ex-Republic of Ireland international has most notably played for Stoke City, Southampton and Derby, accumulating a large amount of appearances for each respective side.
Burton will be aiming to get promotion to League One at the first attempt, having just missed out in the play-offs last season, losing to Bradford in the semi-finals. Delap becomes Gary Rowett's eighth signing of the summer, as they aim for a top-six finish in the league.
Delap told reporters: "From what I've seen in a short space of time, the club's well run and geared to play in a higher league."
Burton manager Gary Rowett, meanwhile, is delighted with the signing and called it a "fantastic coup" for the club.
