Championship outfit Ipswich Town are keen on bringing former Manchester United defender Frédéric Veseli to Portman road this summer, following his release by David Moyes in June.
The Swiss U21 international was highly regarded at Old Trafford following his move from arch-rivals Manchester City in 2012, but he struggled to make an impression in the United first team, making only one appearance in Manchester United's pre-season tour last year.
But he continued to progress well under the guidance of the Manchester United academy coach Warren Joyce.
But despite this, David Moyes, successor to Sir Alex Ferguson, felt that Veseli would not be part of his plans for the immediate future and subsequently released him following his appointment.
And following this, a number of clubs were thought to be interested in requiring the services of the Swiss U21 international, with Ipswich Town now leading the race for his signature. He is currently training with Mick McCarthy's first team, and looks set to feature in their pre-season game against Barnet on Saturday.
But despite Ipswich being the favourites for Veseli's signature, fellow Championship clubs Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and Wigan Athetic are still thought to be monitoring the movements of the 21-year-old.
There has also been interest from abroad for the services of Veseli, with Bundesliga and Serie A sides both being credited with an interested for the former Manchester United man.
