Tottenham Hotspur are in dire need of striking additions. The mediocre performances from strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe last season had denied them a place in UEFA Champions League once again.
Tottenham, with their attractive brand of football, certainly deserves to be in Europe's top competition, but not with the current strike-force. The lack of firepower up-front has halted their progression to next level.
The team think-tank involving Daniel Levy, Franco Baldini and Andre Villas-Boas have identified their weak link and are trying to address the issue with quality additions.
The problem with their approach is, almost all the clubs knows their need for striking additions and are playing hard ball tactics when their interest comes up.
How can the Spurs find a way around it?
Sign someone who is looking to move out of current club or someone else who is unsettled due to some issues at the club.
Christian Benteke's attempt to force his way out of Aston Villa hasn't succeeded yet. It is believed that Tottenham is his preferred destination and Benteke can provide a solution to their problems as well.
However, perhaps Spurs should turn their attentions elsewhere.
Senegalese striker Papiss Demba Cisse and his club Newcastle United has been at loggerheads ever since the Magpies roped in Wonga as their new shirt sponsor. Cisse pulled out of Club's pre-season tour to Portugal after refusing to wear Wonga's logo on religious grounds. His teammates at Newcastle, Check Tiote and Moussa Sissoko are also muslims, but they do not have any issues which leaves Cisse in a precarious situation.
Former FC Metz and SC Freiburg striker, Papiss Cisse had a dream start in Premier League after moving in January 2012, scoring 13 goals in 14 appearances.
Even though he failed to replicate his performances in 2012/13 season, Cisse contributed 13 goals in 47 appearances including four in Europa League. Cisse also has 14 international goals from 26 appearances for Senegal.
28-year-old striker has scored more than 125 goals in his illustrious career, and his penchant for scoring absolute wonders makes him an ideal candidate for Tottenham Hotspur.
To have a decent striker with extra ordinary abilities in your ranks will help the Spurs to move out of their dire straits as well. His 22 goals in Bundesliga campaign 2010/11, remains as a record till date and it shows his lethal abilities.
The African is an efficient striker and his 'goal of the season' against Chelsea at Stamford bridge will be fresh in every Premier League fans memory. Was he a one season wonder?
Cisse's below par performances last season and the current controversies surrounding the player is expected to bring down his market value.
Tottenham should make best use of the situation to land the Senegalese star. It will not only strengthen their strike force, but also will put them in a decent position for further transfer dealings.
