The summer transfer window has seen certain teams do some very smart business.

Some teams have added much-needed strength to certain areas, while some have created surpluses in some positions. A great example can be seen at Bayern Munich; Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara were added to an already overflowing midfield.

It can be very rewarding to see a squad sign a player that will not create unsettlement, but rather complete the puzzle.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan - Borussia Dortmund

The loss of Mario Gotze was a crushing blow to Dortmund. Not only did they lose a talented playmaker, but they lost a midfielder capable of scoring over ten goals a season.

In comes the young Armenian attacker, an ideal replacement for Gotze. His goalscoring prowess is evident with 25 goals in the Ukrainian Premier League last season, and he will take over as the provider for Robert Lewandowski.

Kolo Touré - Liverpool

For the last 15 years, Liverpool have not known life without their defensive leader Jamie Carragher. He was a staple in the defensive line in his earlier career and was the ideal role model to the younger centre-backs of today.

His retirement created a big hole in the defence, both literally and from a leadership point of view. Kolo Touré is the perfect fit to fill the void at Liverpool. With over ten years of Premier League experience, Touré has captained Arsenal and Manchester City and will bring his invaluable experience with him to Anfield.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - Borussia Dortmund

The Gabon international is another great addition to the attacking midfield in Dortmund. He has the pace to blow by defenders, and the scoring ability to complete a deadly attack. He will also provide some needed competition among the Dortmund attacking midfielders. Jakub Błaszczykowski, Marco Reus and the newly acquired Mkhitaryan will all experience some healthy competition in an effort to bring back the Bundesliga title.

Mario Gómez - Fiorentina

The acquisition of the German striker is a smart one for Gómez and Fiorentina. The goalscorer left Bayern after falling out of favour and now joins a team where he will be guaranteed first team football. His new suitors have signed themselves a player known chiefly for his goal return and who will form a formidable partnership with young Montenegrin Stevan Jovetić.
