Toronto FC has had another absolutely dreadful season. The fans have had to endure loss after loss with little hope of any improvements.

Manager Ryan Nelson just can’t seem to catch a break with this club. I’m sure he expected there would be a few rough weeks throughout the campaign. But I don’t think he expected things to go this badly. The 1-0 defeat against Chivas USA on Wednesday has left the fans and the organisation with nothing but questions and frustration.

Chivas USA went into this game holding the worst defensive record in the league. Therefore, most fans figured three points were very much within their reach.

A red card taken by Chivas player Avila was also thought to help the cause. However, it ended up actually hurting Toronto FC. They controlled the match for the most part, but just couldn’t score a goal.

In the end, it’s another loss, which means the Red’s have gone five games without a win.

For me, this loss was the last straw. I don’t know how manager Ryan Nelson is planning on making the rest of the season look more respectable, but the organisation hasn’t been afraid of showing players the door.

Darren O ‘Dea, Luis Silva and Danny Califf are among the players that have already been dismissed and I hope that’s just the beginning.

The club needs a total re-build. I don’t think anybody would argue either the club’s needed it for the past few years. Clearly swapping coaches hasn’t worked in the past, so it comes down to the players on the pitch.

If it were up to me, I would clear the entire roster. And I believe that process has clearly started. I just hope the organisation will now start bringing in some better players.

Over the past few weeks, there has been much speculation about the club signing Argentine striker Diego Forlan.

If he does come to Toronto, maybe he can mark the beginning of a more positive time for Toronto FC. One thing is certain, Toronto FC have taken the phrase “hit rock bottom” to a whole new level.
