Best Peterborough United players of the Darragh MacAnthony era (2)

5. Ryan Bennett

Football News

Ryan Bennett was signed from Grimbsy for a record-breaking fee of around £400,000.

It was the most any club had paid for a player in non-league football and showed the faith that both Darragh MacAnthony and Posh manager had in the policy.

Bennett immediately showed why he was worth such a vast amount of money, too. Composed, but strong, Bennett played with a style that belied his young years and was a rock at the heart of Posh's defence.

He was too talented to be kept at London Road forever, though, and he ended up moving to Premier League Norwich for £3.5 million, where he has stayed ever since.
