McLean was arguably the first real success story of MacAnthony's new policy. During his first full season with the club he smashed in an incredible 29 goals in League Two, firing Posh to promotion and earning a reputation as one of the deadliest strikers in the lower-divisions.
After continuing this fine form in League One, rumours started surfacing that he could be in line for a big-money move - with Posh rejecting a £2.5million offer from Wolves.
It seemed to anger McLean who handed in a transfer request - which was rejected - but the former Grays man was soon back to his best for his current club, and retracted the request to move away.
He went on to play for Posh until 2011 - scoring 67 goals in the process - before completing a move to Hull.
