Best Peterborough United players of the Darragh MacAnthony era (6)

Published 2 Comments

1. George Boyd

Arguably the greatest player to ever put on a Posh shirt, Boyd staggered fans with his ability on a football and the tricks that he possesed.

One third of 'The Holy Trinity' - alongside Mackail-Smith and McLean - the trio formed a partnership that will forever be remembered at London Road.

But, whilst the pace and power of the strike duo made the noticeable, it was the panache and techincal ability of Boyd that made him so revered.

He became known as 'The White Pele' at Posh and ended up staying at the club for six years before finally moving to Hull City - where his goals helped them gain promotion to the Premier League.

It is a fitting stage for Boyd to showcase his ability on too, and there may well be a few top-level defences equally startled as the back-lines that have had to face Boyd during his Football League days this upcoming season.
