Chelsea face competition from Wolfsburg in the race to sign Brazilian midfielder Luis Gustavo, according to reports.
TalkSPORT claims the Bayern Munich star is set to be surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena next season, with new boss Pep Guardiola bringing Thiago Alcantara to join fellow new signing Mario Gotze this summer.
And, Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs is happy to admit his interest in the 25-year-old, believeing that the 10-cap international ticks all the transfer boxes.
"He (Gustavo) meets all the criteria,” Allofs told Kicker.
The radio station claims new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has targeted the former Hoffenheim star as a possible replacement for John Obi Mikel, who has been linked with a move to Turkey in the summer transfer window.
‘The Special One’ is in his second spell at Stamford Bridge, having taken the reigns in west London following Rafa Benitez’s planned summer departure.
Andre Schurrle and Marco Van Ginkel have already been drafted in, but the Chelsea boss will have to fight with the Bundesliga outfit if he wants to bring Gustavo to the club in the next 44 days.
