Daniel Ricciardo 'ready' for Red Bull
Daniel Ricciardo claims he is ready for Red Bull testing the car in the Young Driver's Test
Daniel Ricciardo believes he is "ready" for Red Bull after his day's running with both Toro Rosso and Red Bull at Silverstone on Thursday.
The young Aussie set the fastest time of the day for Toro Rosso whilst achieving third fastest overall for Red Bull, though his Red Bull stint was disrupted after a trip in the gravel trap.
"The off was my mistake," Ricciardo said afterwards. "Probably just pushing a bit too hard."
Asked if the pressure of the speculation had got to him, he insisted: "No, it's fun, it's exciting.
"I didn't take this day as a duel with Kimi," he insisted. "But I enjoyed it.
"I think this test is something for Red Bull to look at, but there's still the rest of the season with Toro Rosso to do, so I'll switch my focus back to that and won't get too caught up in any rumours," Ricciardo added.
"Whatever happens, happens. If I don't get the chance, at least this was a nice little bonus.
"If the decision was up to me, I'm ready," he is quoted by Italy's Autosprint.
The man he will possible partner at Red Bull next year, current triple world champion Sebastian Vettel, will be behind the wheel of the same RB9 on Friday conducting his own test of the new Pirelli tyres coming for Hungary.
Speaking after his run, Ricciardo admitted he would be "watching the times" with interest.
"I hope he won't make me look silly," he laughed.
Should Ricciardo get the call up to Red Bull, many believe his seat at Toro Rosso will be taken by young Portuguese Antonio Felix da Costa, he was behind the wheel of the Red Bull on Thursday morning and afterwards said:
"I got out of the car and said 'I'm ready, I want that'."
