England Ladies boss Hope Powell admitted opponents France were just too good for her side, after seeing her team beaten 3-0.
The defeat ended the tournament for the Lionesses having finished bottom of Group C with just one point.
Goals from Eugenie Le Sommer, Louisa Necib and Wendie Renard were enough to send Powell's side out at the group stages for the first time since 2005.
And after the game, Powell admitted that the French were just too good for her side.
She told the official FA website: "It was a gallant effort, we dug deep but France were just too good for us.
"They were quick on the break and we got punished, it was difficult to get back from that. I said it would be a difficult task here and we know we didn't play to our best.
"I have to regroup, the players have to regroup and we have to go again. I don't like losing and we will be back. Everyone will have learnt a lot of lessons." she added.
England leave the competition having not recorded a win in their group having been beaten by Spain and only managing a draw with Russia.
However despite the poor performance on the pitch, Powell praised the English support in Sweden and from the viewers at home.
She said: "I would like to thank the fans - 1.2 million watched so thank you very much."
