Wolfsburg are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo, according to their general manager Klaus Allofs.

The Brazilian, who has two years left on his current deal, and his place in the team has been thrown into doubt with the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona.

"If you are looking to improve your team, and if the player is available for transfer, you have to discuss the name of Luiz Gustavo,” he said to BILD. “There is no doubt about that."We are interested in him and we have told his agent about that."

But Gustavo, who recently won the Confederations Cup in his home country, does not seem keen on a move away from the Allianz Arena for the time being.

He said: “What can I say? I am under contract until June 2015.

"We will have to wait and see how things turn out."

This could be an indication that, if Bayern are willing to sell, he would be interested in a move. However, for now his future remains in doubt.
