PSG are confident of completing the transfer of Marquinhos in the near future, according to Sky Sports.

A fee of around €35m has been agreed between Roma and PSG and the player is set to undergo a medical in Paris on Friday.

Marquinhos, who is still only 19-years-old, was thought to be high on both PSG's and Barcelona's wish-list this summer, but the wealthy French club seem to have beaten off the competition of the Spanish rivals to sign the talented central-defender.

"He is young, very talented and with great potential," Laurent Blanc explained to Sky Sports. "It's a dossier that's been going on a long time and will come to fruition this afternoon (Friday), I hope.

"This proves that PSG are also recruiting for the future, he offers us a certain guarantee for the future."

When Marquinhos does sign he will be the third signing of the summer - joining Lucas Digne, who signed from Lille, and Edinson Cavani, who made the move from Napoli - for the current Ligue 1 champions as they look to retain their crown this season.
