Italian giants AC Milan look set to beat Premier League club Liverpool to the signing of Ajax's 21-year-old central midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to talkSPORT.
Milan are thought to have tracked the player for the entirety of last season.
Whilst Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is certainly interested in Eriksen, who himself is reportedly keen on a Merseyside move, no bid has yet been made - paving the way for a transfer to the San Siro instead.
Eriksen has already rejected a transfer to German side Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer, and though his current club are keen on a renewal of his contract - which expires in 2014 - the 'wonderkid' midfielder appears bound to leave the Eredivisie.
Eriksen, who has been dubbed 'the new Laudrup' such is his undoubted talent and similar playing style, already has 36 caps for his native Denmark at just 21, and scored 13 goals in all competitions last season.
Milan, who finished third in last season's Serie A, have already strengthened their squad with, the arrivals of Cristian Zapata, Riccardo Saponara and Andrea Poli, and a potential move for Eriksen is likely to cost around 20million euros, significantly more than any of the aforementioned players they have bought thus far.
