Tottenham are set to bid £7m for the 'new Neymar', Santos starlet Neilton, according to the Metro.
Talk of football clubs boasting a 'production line' of talented young players is all too commonplace these days, yet the staff at Santos FC's academy in southern Brazil appear to be having a field day of late.
Just short of six weeks after the Sao Paolo side parted ways with their proverbial son Neymar for roughly £49m. It has now emerged that they are developing another, the 19-year-old Neilton, in the image of his predecessor.
According to the Daily Mail, the Tottenham target is being hailed as the natural heir to the Brazil playmaker, who finally joined Barcelona this summer, and even has the same mohawk haircut and squad number as Neymar.
In fact, the forward was promoted to the first team - having been a Santos academy striker since the age of 14 - to compensate for their newfound goalscoring deficiency, netting twice in his most recent game at the Vilo Belmiro ground.
Following a succession of wonder strikes in recent outings, Neilton has unsurprisingly attracted interest from top European teams, though Santos are unlikely to let another major prodigy leave so soon after their previous star.
However, with the unbeatable combination of superb technical ability and a release clause of around £5m, perhaps it won't be long before Neilton joins his fellow Brazilian in some of Europe's premier club competitions.
