Galatasaray have been put off in their attempts to buy Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna, as the defender has revealed his desire to stay with the Gunners.

It had been said by the player’s agent that the Turkish club were interested in making him their latest big-name signing.

The 30-year-old has been with the London club since signing from Auxerre in 2007, and despite being linked with a number of clubs in this summer’s transfer window, he is not planning on leaving any time soon.

There has been plenty of interest in the right-back, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, AS Monaco and Anzhi Makhachkala also wanting to sign him.

He said: "I enjoy playing for Arsenal - I love my team and I always give my best.

"I'm still here. Many people were talking about me going back to France but I'm still here and I'm looking forward to a big season with Arsenal."

The Frenchman went on to predict that Arsene Wenger’s team will challenge for the title next season, and thinks he can end his trophy drought with the club, in what may me his last chance for silverware at Arsenal, as he has only one-year left on his current contract.

“I believe that we can challenge for the title with a couple of good signings,” he said. "We beat great teams last year, we managed to be one of the best teams in the second half of the season and if we can be consistent for the whole season, I believe we can be successful.

"If I had the solution as to what went wrong last season, I would have given it.”

"I think it's a question of desire and, in some games, being over-confident because we know we have the players and the quality.

"We just have to find consistency and the belief to get success.

"Every team is strengthening and we can strengthen, too, but it's more about us caring on the pitch and showing the commitment. That will take us a long way."

His team kick off their new season at home to Aston Villa on August 17.
