Manchester United stars Robin van Persie and Rio Ferdinand were greeted by mobs of supporters as they signed shirts after the team finished a training session at the Allianz Arena in Sydney.

The Red Devils are back in Australia for the first time since 1999, and swarms of fans flocked to the stadium to catch a brief glimpse of the team ahead of their pre-season friendly against the A-League All Stars on Saturday night.

The match will mark the second of the David Moyes era and he will be quietly hoping for an improvement on his opening 1-0 defeat to the Singha All Stars in Bangkok.

The arrival of Robin van Persie to to the squad will certainly help his chances of claiming that first victory. The All Stars team will represent the best of the Hyundai A-League with the team being selected by fans.

It is a rare opportunity for Australians to see the champions of England take on the A-League's biggest names with United set to jet off to Asia after the match as they continue their pre-season tour.

And, this behind the scenes footage comes from Ferdinand himself, as the former England defender films his 'Rio Tour Diary'.
