The arrival of new money in Europe has certainly changed the landscape of football on the continent.
The traditional powers of the game are now being challenged by clubs not steeped in history but bankrolled by wealthy individuals with more money than sense. Even the petro-dollars at Manchester City has been usurped by the Nouveau-riche French.
Once upon a time the likes of Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao would have been snapped up by one of a small handful of European superpowers - now they are being lured elsewhere by the opportunity to be made rich beyond their wildest dreams.
But don't be mistaken - the likes of PSG and Monaco aren't just splashing the cash arbitrarily. These newly rich teams are compiling all-star line-ups to compete with the best.
This is no more apparent than in attack where a handful of teams can now boast an embarrassment of riches going forward.
