The Rock vs John Cena was possibly the most anticipated wrestling match of all time, but rumours are rife that Stone Cold Steve Austin could be stepping inside a wrestling ring once again to take part in another eagerly-anticipated bout - if the WWE can persuade him to fight for one last time.

The only thing the WWE is hoping for is that Austin remains interested and that he also receives medical clearance to compete in a match. If he is cleared and interested, the WWE creative have already planned out potential ways a match could take place.

First off, a match which many fans would not really want to see, they have the idea that Steve Austin would face Triple H at the 30th anniversary of WrestleMania, where Austin would represent Vince McMahon during the match and the winner takes control of the WWE.

That outcome remains obvious, we all know Triple H is going to take over relatively soon and would be a way to write Vince off-screen for good, but would burying Austin be a good idea?

Fans already feel that Triple H continues to bury talent and beating Austin will certainly not be a popular decision. Another angle which could take place is that Stone Cold brings back the good old times, and his infamous feud with Vince McMahon by hitting a Stunner.

However, the most popular decision which could and rightfully should be made is having Stone Cold Steve Austin take on CM Punk. This could also be done if Triple H chooses Austin to represent him, whilst Vince could choose Punk. But the preferred option would be to have Punk take on Austin without the McMahon’s involvement.

It is no secret that Punk wants to face Austin, and Austin himself has stated that if he is to ever return to the ring, he only wants CM Punk. The two are no stranger to one another, regular Twitter spats and the video above shows the two meeting face to face, topped off with a great reaction.

As of right now, there is nobody better to sell a promo or tell a story as good as Stone Cold and CM Punk, not including Paul Heyman as he is a genius.

There is clearly something there between Punk and Austin, take a look at the small history that both Austin and Punk have had over the last couple of years.

Verbal spats here and there, interviews and even CM Punk wearing a Steve Austin t-shirt on the infamous night where CM Punk announced his intentions to leave the WWE with the WWE Championship.

Anyway, when you take a look at all of these aspects, you know there is a spark there, much like Rock vs Cena in the build-up to their first WrestleMania match, the same can be done for these two and in fact it could be done a whole lot better.

CM Punk brings the technical prowess and the brilliant in-ring skill, whereas Stone Cold is an old school, brawling, ‘ass-whooping’ machine and with two opposite style matched with the charisma and microphone skills of both men, this will only result in positives for the WWE - they would both bring something unique to WrestleMania.

The wrestling fans who live and breathe this every single day will know that this is a fans greatest fantasy match. Some would say it tops The Rock vs John Cena as this would bring some of the best promos and verbal skills to have ever been witnessed, and for the WWE it would make a hell of a lot of money.

To me, it won’t matter what the main event would be for WrestleMania XXX, it will not matter which Championship is on the line or who the Royal Rumble winner will face.

If you put CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, that will be the main event in many fans eyes, regardless of where it is placed on the card.
