PSG closing in on Marquinhos

Manchester United and Chelsea have been a dealt a blow in their pursuit of Brazilian centre back Marquinhos.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc has revealed he’s confident the versatile 19-year-old , who can also play at right back, will be moving to the Parc des Princes at some point today (Friday) in a £30million deal.

The player’s agent has previously revealed that the Red Devils were keen to bring the player to Old Trafford, whilst The Daily Star also reports that new Blues boss Jose Mourinho also wanted the player.

However, it’s the Parisian outfit who appear set to win the race, with Blanc happy to be building for the future with the Ligue 1 champions.

"He is young, very talented and with great potential. It's a dossier that's been going on a long time and will come to fruition this afternoon (Friday), I hope,” said the former France chief.

"This proves that PSG are also recruiting for the future, he offers us a certain guarantee for the future."

David Moyes has been linked with a number of defenders recently, as he looks to strengthen the Manchester United backline after taking the reigns from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ezequiel Garay has been linked with a move to the Premier League champions, whilst David Luiz has also been mooted as a possible Red Devils target.

Luiz is part of the Chelsea backline, and Mourinho has insisted that the Brazilian is not for sale despite the speculation linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Marquinhos would join his compatriot, as well as Oscar and Ramires, if he were to move to west London, but it appears the Blues are set to be left disappointed.
