Tim Tebow attempts contact with Johnny Manziel

Tim Tebow has reached out to Johnny Manziel amidst intense media scrutiny surrounding the Heisman Trophy winner.

The Texas A&M quarterback, nicknamed ‘Johnny Football’, has hit the headlines after being forced to leave the Manning Passing Academy early. Manziel, who was working as a councillor, was initially said to be ill, but has subsequently revealed it was a mutual decision for him to leave after over-sleeping and missing various sessions.

Whatever the situation, it’s increased the attention on the talented QB, who was the first freshman to win the Heisman last year.

Tebow, the first sophomore to win the award during his time with the Florida Gators, knows a thing or two about off-field pressures, and is trying to help the 20-year-old.

"There's been some miscommunication ... and I haven't talked to him personally, but I really would like to get a chance to," said Manziel.

"Tebow's a guy I really look up to. He's an SEC legend. I hope I can reach the level and do what he did at Florida."

Manziel also told Mike Bianchi of the Orland Sentinal that Tebow left him a voicemail message.

But, the Aggies superstar admits he isn’t the same man as Tebow, who is renowned for his work away from the football field. He also hopes the public don’t expect him to live the same kind of lifestyle.

"I'm not Tebow. I'm different in many ways. Hopefully (the public) accepts me for me,” he concluded during the SEC media day.
