Newcastle United's long wait for a new striker at St James' Park could well be over as they look set to move in on French duo, Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre-Pierre Gignac.
Manager Alan Pardew has already confirmed his interest in Lyon forward Gomis.
"We have expressed an interest in Gomis. He's a French International who's played at the highest level for his club," Pardew told The Times.
It is believed that the Lyon star has made it clear to his advisors that a move to Premier Leagus side Newcastle would be his preferred move.
Gomis has netted over 100 goals in his career and the 27-year-old is also believed to be on the radar of Aston Villa.
However the France international seems more interested in joining Newcastle’s long list of former Ligue One stars.
It seems like Pardew has made signing a new striker his main priority with the Sunday Express reporting that Marseille have already received a £10million bid for Gignac.
Pardew’s search for a new striker might have intensified over the weekend after Papiss Cisse refused to wear Newcastle’s new shirt due to the club’s new sponsorship deal with payday lenders Wonga.
