Stevan Jovetic has that he chose to join Manchester City over other clubs because Manuel Pellegrini’s side ‘wanted him more’.
The Montenegro international penned the deal with Manchester City on Friday, and hopes to have a productive debut campaign with his new club by scoring ’15-20 goals’.
Jovetic told Manchester City's official website: “They wanted me more than everyone and I decided to come here.
“They are fighting for the Premier League and also for the Champions League, and this is the reason I came here.”
It appears unsurprising that Jovetic decided to choose Manchester City, considering that they are going to be challenging for titles in England and Europe next season.
Arsenal and Chelsea were also said to be interested in his services however Manchester City went to greater lengths in order to acquire his signature.
Numerical details on the deal are still unclear so it is hard to interpret the strains of any stresses that will be on the player’s shoulders to impress at Manchester City.
However, most media outlets have reported the final deal to be around the £22million mark.
But, with the stature of the club that he has joined, the pressure will be on him to prove that he can challenge players like Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko for a place in Pellegrini’s starting line-up.
