Four-legged pitch invader stops match in Brazil

Published 5 Comments

Botafogo maintained their place atop the Campeonato Brasileiro with a straightforward 2-0 victory over basement boys Nautico on Saturday evening.

Second-half goals from substitute Elias - just minutes after his introduction - and veteran Renato secured three points for Clarence Seedorf's side, to make it 16 points from their opening eight games.

Despite the predictable outcome, the match was made memorable by a pitch invader of the fluffy, four-legged variety, after a dog halted play for a number of minutes after running freely onto the field.

The nimble canine looked right at home as he intricately weaved past a number of players and their outstretched arms, as they tried to remove him from the pitch.
