Its always a big dream of an Indian footballer to play in the big overseas leagues, especially of Europe and America and rub shoulders with the league's biggest players.
But very few players have got that chance to pursue that dream like Indian football legends Baichung Bhutia and Sunil Chettri , who played for Bury and Kansas City Wizard's respectively.
And like them, Indian international Syed Rahim Nabi may also represent a foreign club in near future.
The Mohun Bagan's marauding wingback has aroused the interest of American soccer league club DC United with his consistent performances in I-League and the club has offered him a trial with a view to offering him a contract.
He was selected as the All India Football Federation's Player of the season and is known for his ability to play at virtually every outfield position, which makes him an asset for every club.
Times of India quoted Rabi saying: "DC United has seen my video clips and apparently that has evoked a lot of interest. It has been a childhood dream to play abroad. I will give my best in the trials so that i can grab a contract."
With the amount of exposure he will get, everyone will benefit from it and it may be the first sign of the rise of Indian football.
