Manchester United David Moyes says he is excited about the prospect of working with Shinji Kagawa and getting the most out of the former Borussia Dortmund star.
Kagawa joined the Red Devils from Germany last summer and made 20 league appearances but failed to fully fire during his maiden Premier League campaign.
During his final season with Dortmund, Kagawa found the back of the net 13 times in 31 league appearances but couldn't quite reach that standard in Manchester, although he did fire a hat-trick against Norwich in March.
The Japanese international hooked up with his Manchester United team-mates for the first time on their pre-season tour in his home country ahead of their game against Yokohama F.Marinos.
While Moyes conceded he didn't know much about Kagawa before his arrival at Old Trafford, the Scot revealed he was looking forward to seeing the 24-year-old in full flight next season.
"I know a little about him as a player," he said.
"Sir Alex spoke in glowing terms about Shinji and how good a player he is. I've just met him today, so we're getting to know each other. I'm trying to learn Japanese and he's trying to understand my Scottish.
"It was his first season in the Premier League last year. He's a young player so we hope his development continues. I look forward to working with him and hopefully he has a really good season coming up."
