Nottingham Forest have made a £1.5 million offer for Queens Park Rangers striker, Jamie Mackie, according to the Mail Online.

The Scotland international has fallen out of favour at Loftus Road, starting less than half of QPR's games last season. Kept on the bench by new arrival, Loic Remy, Mackie could be looking for a fresh start and new club for the 2013-14 season. Cardiff have reportedly taken an interest in the midfielder, but Malky Mackay is yet to convert his interest into an offer.

Billy Davies has leapt at the opportunity to secure the Scotsman's signature ahead of Premier League competition. Forest were involved in transfer talks with the striker back in 2010 during his time with Plymouth Argyle, but lost out to the Bluebirds on that occasion.

Davies has no intention of failing on his second attempt, offering Harry Redknapp the same £1.5 million offer he extended this week to Celtic boss, Neil Lennon, for the Nottingham born centre-back Kelvin Wilson.

Mackie was a part of the Wimbledon side that rebranded as Milton Keynes Dons in 2004, but exited the club in 2005, moving to Exeter City where he spent three seasons in the Conference before signing on at Home Park.

With nine international caps, Mackie could represent the experienced goalscorer that Forest need in midfield.

He netted twice on his debut for the Pilgrims, going on to become top goalscorer for the club in the 2009-10 season.

If Billy Davies can finalise the deal, Mackie could become a real asset for the Reds, but with QPR pushing for promotion after last season's relegation and a massive injection of money from Lakshmi Mittal, the billionaire 34% shareholder in the club, 'King Billy' may have some trouble convincing Mackie to leave the west London club and move north.
