After a fair amount of speculation about the future of technically gifted spanish star, Thiago Alcantara, he decided to join Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich over David Moyes' Manchester United.
Although both teams appear highly attractive for any player looking to move elsewhere, what were the potential reasons for Alcantara's decision?
Guardiola was excellent when using emphasis to represent his desire for Thiago to join Bayern. Thiago said he was persuaded by Bayern's new manager to reject Manchester United's offers and move to Germany.
Thiago has spent time under the management of Guardiola before at Barcelona and clearly has a descent relationship with the 41 year old.
Although Thiago will be appreciated by the fans of Bayern, would he have been adored more by the hopeful fans from Manchester?
Manchester United have had to overcome an incredibly difficult time in the team's history as the Godfather of football, Sir Alex Ferguson, passed his responsibilities over to Moyes.
The United fans are awaiting a signing that represents Moyes plans for immediate success. So far, he is yet to sign a player with the potential to guarantee just that.
Although Thiago is young, his technical ability and vision would stand out in the Premier League. He would bring a new element to the Manchester United midfield which would make success more possible. If Thiago had joined United, he would have been part of a new era of one of the most historical and legendary clubs in world football. Instead of this, he picked the Bundesliga.
After watching Bayern Munich thrash Barcelona 3-0 at the Camp Nou, Thiago will be aware of what an incredible team they are becoming. With Mario Gotze, another highly rated youngster moving from Borussia Dortmund, Thiago will see Bayern as a club not only looking to remain at the top of the European hierarchy but looking to prepare for the future.
Thiago has joined Bayern at a time when the goal is to replicate the previous year's achievements.
Bayern were incredible last season and with Gotze and Thiago joining the squad, it is only looking better.
