For many professional footballers, a debut is all about a solid start, whilst trying to endear yourself to your club's loyal support by perhaps scoring a great goal, or performing an outrageous piece of skill.
Certain players thrive on their debut's and make a name for themselves (just like Wayne Rooney, who scored a hat-trick on his first game for Manchester United in the Champions League).
And DC United's midfielder Luis Silva seems to have this down to a tee, as he showed in his side's match against Chicago Fire.
Silva was making his debut, and he didn't hesitate during his first appearance. With his side 4-0 down, he was unable to make much of a difference to the match, however he received the ball, and stroked the ball into the top corner from around 30-yards out.
This will certainly be a debut he will never forget (despite the result).
