Darren Bent hasn’t enjoyed much success on a personal level with Aston Villa since completing his move from Sunderland in 2011 for £18m.

The former England international now seems on his way out of Villa Park and reportedly has many options.

1. Stay at Aston Villa

Although a move away seems very likely, it is all but official that Bent will not wear the claret and blue next season.

Unfortunately for the 29-year old, life at Villa Park won’t get easier next season as Christian Benteke recently signed a new and improved contract at the club.

Bent played second fiddle to Benteke throughout most of the 2012/13 campaign and saw the rest of his season ruined by injuries. Furthermore, there is a lot of uncertainty about whether Paul Lambert still wants the striker at the club.

2. Newcastle United

Rumoured to be the biggest favourites for Bent’s signature are Newcastle United. The Magpies are in search for a new main striker after the departure of Demba Ba to Chelsea last winter and the possible future departure of Papiss Cissé, who is reluctant to wear a Newcastle kit promoting new sponsor Wonga.

Newcastle would definitely benefit from Bent’s rich Premier League experience and his qualities as a poacher, which Alan Pardew most certainly knows about, having previously worked with Bent at Charlton Athletic.

3. Fulham

The latest club to be linked with a move for Bent is Fulham. If a deal comes through, Martin Jol could see himself reunited with Bent, having briefly worked with the forward at Tottenham.

Competition for places at Fulham is fierce, though, with Brian Ruiz, Hugo Rodallega and Dimitar Berbatov all competing for a place in the first XI.

4. Hull City

Probably the biggest guarantee of firs- team football Bent can get from his range of interested clubs, as he has a lot more Premier League experience than any other striker at the club.

Hull’s recent acquisition of Danny Graham on loan from Sunderland might make this move seem less appealing for Bent, but manager Steve Bruce could find a way to play both of them up front.

AS Roma and Wolfsburg have also been credited with an interest in Bent, but it appears to be a plan B for both clubs. Playing in Serie A or the Bundesliga might also give Bent less opportunities to impress England coach Roy Hodgson, so the forward will probably want to stay in England to try to secure a spot in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup.
