Liverpool Football Club, a club full of world-class talent, envied by many squads across Europe.
However, Liverpool's recent years have been short of miraculous, sliding downhill since the memorable evening in Istanbul that clinched their last UEFA Champions League title in 2005.
Every element of Liverpool is craving European football soon, with manager Brendan Rodgers looking for success following his semi-recent appointment at the top of the club.
The players will also be searching for that top-four spot. Players like Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Pepe Reina and newcomer Philippe Coutinho are ones who should not be playing outside of a top-four spot in England.
Gerrard's commitment to the club solidifies the opinion that he is there to stay, while Pepe Reina and Suarez both have speculation surrounding possible transfers.
If the key players at the club begin to search elsewhere for work, then Liverpool surely will have difficulty maintaining their current league position, as disappointing as it has been for the club. This year Liverpool will need three important elements stressed in their squad if they wish to reach that top four spot they are seeking.
The first of these elements is experience, something that Liverpool currently has but must attempt to retain. The likes of Gerrard and Reina lead Liverpool with their experience, but with Reina being loaned to Napoli, the core of the squad will remain young and mid-aged players, with the lack of experience being a bit of a gamble on the manager's part.
The second element that Liverpool will need to achieve their goals this season is, simply, belief. Many fans will believe that a squad needs a specific tactic and will express this, which is accurate, but in the case of Liverpool, the whole fan base is beginning to lose belief. Their support is still unrivalled by other clubs, but the belief is deteriorating as the club's success slips away.
The final element that Liverpool needs is strategy in the transfer window.
There is so much speculation over who will and won't move during these windows that it is almost impossible to predict who will go where. But in the end it is obvious that the Reds simply don't have the team that will win them a top-four spot this year.
The reason that a team is losing usually comes down to the players, whether they are not getting along, their play is not up to par, or there is simply a fallout anywhere along the line, it all has to click in a top-four team.
It seems that the chemistry is there for Liverpool, but the skill is not.
Liverpool may look to a big move or two, similar to those of Daniel Sturridge and Coutinho in January if they are to achieve their goals this season.
