Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed what is making him so deadly in front of goal during the club's pre-season tour of the Far East and he has put it down to having more confidence when in front of goal.
The French striker has scored an impressive six goals in three games.
Giroud scored a brace in the first friendly against Indonesia and then followed that up with an impressive first-half hat-trick against Vietnam before adding one goal to his tally yesterday when the side faced Japan outfit Nagoya Grampus.
The ex-Montpellier striker scored 17-goals in his debut season in England, but could have easily had more after he went several games at the beginning of the season without finding the back of the net, despite having glorious opportunities.
However, the striker looks like a different player already this summer and he has put it down to feeling confident when he is in-front of goal and he has admitted to training hard trying to improve his finishing.
"Confidence makes all the difference," he told Arsenal Player. "Confidence is the first thing you have to work on - you have to work on your mental [side of the game] and keep going. It is something you must have when you are a football player.
"I am happy with my efficiency. I had as well a good ball from Tomas, I had a good position to receive the ball and I finished well. I am happy with it and I want to keep going and help the team to win. Tonight we succeeded, we were efficient, Theo scored and Ryo at home as well so we are really happy."
After playing with the players for a season now, Giroud feels like he is on the same wavelength as his team-mates and he believes that can only aid him for next season.
"I don't really feel different compared to last year but maybe I know my team-mates very well now so I am more confident and I feel ready on the pitch," he said. "I do things naturally and we find each other better on the pitch. We have a better relationship now and I really want to do my best for this season."
