Arsenal join Salvio race

Arsenal are being linked with a £30million move for Manchester City winger target Eduardo Salvio.

The Daily Star claims Arsene Wenger is considering an offer which would smash the Gunners’ club-record transfer fee, and also land one of world football’s hottest properties.

23-year-old Salvio joined Benfica from Atletico Madrid last summer, and was a shining light for the club last season both domestically and in Europe.

His form has led to interest from the Premier League, with Arsenal one of the parties keen on the player.

Wenger is under pressure to bring a big name to the Emirates Stadium, the paper claims, with the Gunners also being linked with both Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez.

But, if the north London outfit are to land the five-cap Argentine international, they will have to beat Manchester City to the signature.

Manuel Pellegrini has already made a number of changes at the Etihad Stadium, with Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic joining the Citizens.

Salvio would give Manchester City even more strength-in-depth in the race for the Premier League title, although talkSPORT claimed yesterday (Monday) that they were quoted £40million for the player.
