Arsenal have been given a boost after finding out that defender Laurent Koscielny's injury is not serious as feared and won't miss the start of the season.
Wenger was fearing for Koscielny's fitness after he walked out of training at the weekend after picking up an ankle injury, but he has received news from the club's physio that he will be fit in time for the opening game of the season.
Koscielny sat out of the Nagoya Grampus friendly, which Arsenal won 3-1 and he is expected to miss the last pre-season friendly on Friday. He could be back in time for the Emirates Cup or the Manchester City game in Finland.
Arsenal already have defensive problems with both Thomas Vermaelen and Nacho Monreal set to miss the start of the season after they both suffered back injuries.
The last thing Wenger wanted was another injury to one of his star-men at the back.
Not only has the Arsenal boss been given good news on the Koscielny front, he has also received positive news that both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wojciech Szczesny should be fully fit for the game on Friday. Initial fears were that they would be missing for some time because of a thigh and a back injury respectively.
The Gunners will play their final game in the Far East on Friday as they take on Urawa Red Dragons before heading back to England to prepare for the Emirates Cup where they will be joined by Napoli, Galatasaray and FC Porto.
