Manchester United are on the verge of submitting a third and final bid for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to the Daily Mirror.
Many people would say that submitting a third bid is taking it too far and Moyes’ pursuit of Fabregas may not be the most sensible thing to do right now, but this is the first step in right direction.
Fabregas is not the only talented midfielder out there, but from United’s point of view, no other player looks as attractive as the Spain international.
A midfielder who can assert his presence is a must for Manchester United right now.
It has been clear for some time now that neither Tom Cleverley nor Anderson are capable of becoming that player for United.
And the players in the reserve team are simply not refined enough for Premier League or Europe.
The only option is to look elsewhere. And that elsewhere could be Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain.
If the said deal falls through, Manchester United need to follow someone else, for example Luka Modric.
The player also has all the experience that Fabregas has to offer, and may actually be willing to come to Manchester United where he would slide into the first team without too much clatter.
I am not saying that only Fabregas or Modric are the must-have options for United, but the reinforcement of midfield is.
And that certainly cannot be solved through current squad members. So Moyes is right to try his best to sign Fabregas, even if he could fail.
