With more money being invested in player development every year, the standard of footballers across the world has increased significantly.

This has been emphasised this season by German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund's successes in the Champions League.

Prior to this season, Spain had enjoyed relatively unchallenged domination across both international football and at club level.

However - since Chelsea showed in 2012 that Barcelona are indeed beatable, new champions have arisen. 

Bayern Munich managed an incredible 7-0 aggregate scoreline against Barca this season, proving that not all the best players are based in Spain.

There are however, based all across Europe in some of the world's top clubs.
