Going into the new season, Jose Mourinho will be looking to offload some players from his Chelsea squad
Currently there are an abundance of young players at Stamford Bridge, and these are the likely candidates to leave on loan before the season begins in August.
These changes are crucial to Chelsea's future. Ensuring appropriate loan assignments could make the difference between either a good or great squad in the future.
Romelu Lukaku is a fine example of the positives that can be gained away from the club, and the following list of players will all hope to reap similar rewards if they are shipped out…
The major move to be noted is Lucas Piazon. At the incredibly young age of 19, he has been a member of Chelsea’s Champions League squad and proved himself at Malaga FC at the end of last term.
In his sat-back striking position, he was able to get 2 assists after moving on loan in January of 2013.
Josh McEachran is another notable move. Seemingly hiding in the shadows until Frank Lampard calls it quits, expect another Championship move for this England youth international.
His 30 appearances last season proved worthy for his career, as he won the Middlesbrough Young Player of the Year.
Another Mourinho will be looking to loan-out is Nathaniel Chalobah. He is 18, a goal-scoring defender, and has a name that is catching on around the league. While not fully established, his 5 goals helped his sake at Watford on their run to the Championship play-off final.
Finally, Chelsea acquired Wallace, a Brazilian defender from Fluminese at the end of 2013. He made a brief appearance in the pre-season game against the Shanghai All-Star 11.
However, his fate away from the club this summer is sealed.
"Wallace on loan because he has no work permit, and he goes on loan one more season but in Europe, not South America, to make it more easy for him," said Mourinho.
Given the players in the Chelsea squad, there are few openings for youngsters as star signings often get the nod first.
These youth players must grow to full stature and play their hearts out away from west London if they are to have a chance at the starting 11 in the next few years.
