Recently-relegated Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy is West Ham's number one target, as their search for another striker continues, reports the Daily Star.

The forward almost joined the east London club in 2011, before opting to join former club Marseille ahead of the Hammers.

Remy joined QPR in January 2013 for a fee of £8m and immediately impressed, scoring on his debut against West Ham. He went on to score a further six goals in his 14 Premier League appearances.

Remy, who caught the eye of many a pundit, has seen moves for his services slow in coming forward, largely due to his forthcoming court trial.

The French international stands accused of rape, and the charge has proved off-putting to potential suitors.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan communicated through his son's Twitter account that the club's main aim was now to sign a goalscorer with pace, dropping further hints that Remy is likely to be the club's number one target.

"We are happy with the rest of the team - all we need now is pace and goals," Sullivan said on the social network site.

Remy would become the second striker to join the club this summer, after West Ham completed a £17m deal for former Liverpool striker Andy Carroll.

However, Carroll looks set to miss the start of the new campaign after a recurring heel problem sidelined him from action.

The former Tottenham and Liverpool target is on a £75,000-a-week deal at the west London club, with current manager Harry Redknapp under instruction to cut the R's booming wage bill ahead of their Championship campaign.
