Gerardo Martino has been confirmed as new Barcelona head coach to replace throat-cancer victim Tito Vilanova.
The 50-year-old Argentine manager has agreed a two-year contract with Barca. His backroom staff will be fellow Argentines Elvio Paolorroso and Jorge Pautasso, who worked with him recently at Newell's Old Boys.
Though never coached in Europe before, Martino has been in charge of many Argentine sides as well as the Paraguayan national team.
Tata will commence his managerial duties after being presented to the fans and media on Friday.
Barcelona ace Lionel Messi has expressed his content with Tata, as he gave a glowing assessment of him.
"I like Tata Martino. He is a great coach and he gets his team playing well and we all respect him," Messi told Diario Ole.
Tata's record lends him credence as he won a league title five times with three different clubs in the last six seasons.
Most importantly, he has a Barca-like philosophy as he plays an intricate brand of passing football with a slow tempo.
