New Paris Saint-German manager Laurent Blanc has made it clear that Kevin Gameiro will be joining Sevilla imminently.
The striker has struggled to make much of a name for himself at the Parc des Princes, partly due to the brilliance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season.
Now that Edinson Cavani has also arrived in the French capital, it seems that it would be very difficult for him to get regular game time during Blanc’s first campaign in charge.
Speaking to French newspaper L’Equipe, the World Cup winner announced: “I have appreciated this player for a long time, but it is his choice to leave and that choice seems to be compatible with the club’s choice.”
Having recently sold Alvaro Negredo to Manchester City, the Spanish club have been looking for a replacement, and targeted the former Lorient forward.
“A new adventure should start for him in Sevilla, if his transfer will be finalized,” added Blanc.
After finishing ninth in La Liga last season, the Spaniards will be expecting a much higher finish – and Gameiro could be the player to fire them there.
The France international proved that he is capable of regularly scoring while he was playing for Lorient in Ligue 1, and this move could kick-start his career having spent much of his time at PSG warming the bench.
