Darren Bent nears Aston Villa exit

Published Add your comment

Darren Bent is a consistent, proven goalscorer at Premier League level, therefore there is no surprise that both Fulham and Newcastle are involved in a race to land the striker.

Alan Pardew and Martin Jol have been boosted in their pursuit of the England international, after Bent told Aston Villa fans that he is leaving the club on his way out of the club's training ground in the midlands.

When asked whether he would prefer Newcastle or Fulham, Bent replied: "We'll have to see."

This suggests Bent doesn't mind the destination, just as long as he is playing in the Premier League next year on a regular basis.

On his day, Bent is a top class forward and don't be surprised to see a number of other clubs show an interest in acquiring his services in the coming days/weeks.

Therefore, the race is on!
