A player only meeting didn’t seem to solve anything for the Toronto Blue Jays.
The 10-9 defeat at the hands of the LA Dodgers sees the team’s losing streak extended to six games. The team has yet to get a win since the All Star Break.
This game had plenty of ups and downs for Blue Jays fans too - the team looked poised to win with an 8-3 lead half-way through the game. However, a series of bad pitches and two home run hits in the 8th inning allowed the Dodgers to steal the victory.
Brett Lawrie continued to struggle and wasn’t able to deliver when required. Jose Bautista, Jose Reyes and Mark DeRosa all hit home runs for their team, but it wasn’t enough to get them the victory.
In the end, it’s another loss for the Blue Jays, which has left the team with more questions to answer.
Jay fans have certainly had to endure a lot of losses this season and with each loss comes the speculation of trading players or firing coaches and other staff members.
I feel bad for the players, because they just can’t seem to catch a break. But at the same time, blowing a five-run lead is pretty dreadful.
I believe it’s time for the organisation to part ways with some of their players. In fact, I wouldn’t mind if the organisation fired general manager Alex Anthopoulos.
I would also trade Adam Lind, Josh Johnson, and Macier Izturis. Then I would see how much interest other teams could have in Lawrie and go from there.
Last night’s loss proved what we all knew - this team hasn’t lived up to its potential at all.
I believe this is the worst and most disappointing season for the Blue Jays and their fans. The team is facing yet another sweep, and is playing average baseball at best.
I don’t see this team pulling up at all this season, but I sure hope that the changes that are coming will provide the opportunity to win a few more games.
